Hi !!! My GYN said I dont really have to get my period but can be on BC if I want to get it. Ok so for the last five years I have a year im on then off or a couple months im on then off or a year im off then on.  This doesnt sound like it would be good.  For the past year I really havent been on BC knowing that if I had my surgery I would get my period so basically my attitude has been I will just wait.  What is another year of not being on BC gonna do.  Oh and when im not on BC I would bleed at all.  Thoughts?????

Having a cycle is critical for your health.  Although you don't have to have it every single month, you should cycle at least every 3 months to shed your old lining.  Going longer than that can increase your chances of developing endometrial cancer later in life.  Now I don't know the exact stats of it...but my OB told me that having a cycle at least every 3 months keeps the risks down.  If you don't want to go on BC then at least go in for a dose of Provera to induce a cycle if you're not having them on your own...at least until your cycles start to regulate themselves. Good luck!

I agree with Kristy. I had to have an endometrial biopsy done because I did not have a cycle for 4 months. Sharee

Personally I think you need a NEW OBGYN!! The one you have clearly doesn't know squat about PCOS.

201 pounds lost since surgery!! And I'm 2 1/2 inches taller too!!

And YES I still eat Carbs and Fats but I know what portion control is!!

Take it from me, if you are not on hormones, you need to have a period!  I have always been irregular.  I always have taken care of myself and had my yearly physicals.  How I discovered I had a problem was that I had gotten married for the first time at the age of 37.  I then thought that I owed it to myself and my hubby to try and have a baby.  I went to a RE and it was discovered that I had very thick lining of my uterus and PCOS.  I then had a biopsie done.  The results were that I had Hyperplasia with Atypia.  That is a precancerous condition.  I had to be on hormone therepy for 1 year and have a DC.  Anyway, to make a long story short, yes, you need to have periods!
